NDCN Concludes Stakeholder Education and Awareness Workshop on the Revised National Policy on Disability, 2025 – Oshana Region

The National Disability Council of Namibia (NDCN) successfully concluded a two-day Stakeholder Education and Awareness Workshop on the Revised National Policy on Disability, 2025 in the Oshana Region, held at Oshakati Country Lodge from 05 – 06 August 2026.

The workshop forms part of the NDCN’s nationwide campaign to strengthen awareness and understanding of the Revised National Policy on Disability among key stakeholders. It provided an important platform for meaningful dialogue on disability rights, inclusive development, and collaborative action towards the effective implementation of the policy.

Delivering the keynote address, Governor of the Oshana Region, Honourable Hofni Iipinge explained to attendees that:

“Traditional leaders and community representatives, [are] asked that you continue to be the eyes and the voice of your communities helping us to identify where this policy is not yet helping those who need it most.”

He advised the municipalities, Town Councils and local authorities that they should assess and improve the accessibility of public buildings infrastructure, transport systems and public spaces.

The workshop encouraged active participation, with stakeholders sharing experiences, asking questions, and identifying practical ways to advance disability inclusion within their communities.

Through initiatives such as these, the NDCN continues to champion the rights, empowerment, and full participation of persons with disabilities, contributing to a more inclusive and accessible Namibia where no one is left behind.
